Matt and Amanda’s wedding was the first wedding of the 2020 season. It was also the last event I got to photograph before all of our lives had been upended by the COVID-19 crisis and I could not think of a better group of people to kick off the year with and to celebrate love with.
When I got to Amanda’s room at The Logan in Philadelphia, Mack Stylist had just finished the bride’s hair and makeup. With absolutely no stress on her mind, Amanda got ready and sipped champagne with her mom and her best girlfriends by her side.
In another suite of Philadelphia’s luxury hotel, Matt was putting on his Hugo Boss suit and taking a shot of Jameson to celebrate with his dad and best friends. As soon as the groom was ready, he excitedly headed downstairs to The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul to see his beautiful bride for the first time on their wedding day. When Amanda walked into the cathedral, looking elegant in her Justin Alexander wedding dress, every guest was left speechless as she walked down the aisle.
In between the ceremony and reception, we drove around the city of Philadelphia celebrating this beautiful wedding day. With the couple’s classic and elegant style, we decided to photograph their portraits in Old City, where every photograph taken has a romantic and timeless feel to it. Then, we were off to the reception at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, but not before stopping in front of City Hall to get the classic Philadelphia wedding photo – with a twist. Matt and Amanda’s bridal party all ran out with us and popped bottles of champagne in front of City Hall to celebrate. It made for awesome photos and incredible memories.
