As a wedding photographer, I get to travel all around the world, capturing some really gorgeous weddings. Still, there’s just something about Pennsylvania weddings that keeps me falling in love with our state. Not only do we have some absolutely breathtaking views, but we also have such a rich history that shines through all of our towns and buildings. When picking a wedding venue, you can find unique spaces filled with American history that still offer contemporary styles. One of my favorite examples of this is the Terrain at Styers wedding venue in Glen Mills. This lovely space has options for both indoor and outdoor weddings and is ready to make your ceremony the next chapter of its incredible history.
Terrain at Styers started when Jacob Styer, an excellent farmer with one of history’s coolest mustaches, took over his brother’s farm. Jacob was a bit of a mushroom expert and introduced the culture to the area. He grew the nursery and started the first roadside market in Glen Mills.
When he died in 1924, his son took over the business and continued his father’s work. He released a book on mushroom horticulture, joined the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, and started the Gold Medal Plant Award to recognize the importance of ornamental woody plants.
His nursery has since been transformed into a luxurious space that honors his lifework while providing space to celebrate your major milestones. The current building has been constructed on his nursery grounds. It offers a rustic party space while staying true to its original mission. The property contains an active nursery. The buildings and landscapes are filled with the most gorgeous plants that will be the perfect accent for your wedding day.
Terrain at Styers offers several ceremony spaces. The restored vintage greenhouse provides a warm vibe to your wedding. Bistro lighting lights up the greenhouse paved with concrete tiling. The front of the venue features a rustic barn wood wall with rows of plants. It’s such a striking backdrop for exchanging vows!
Outdoor weddings will take place in front of the Garden Shed. This green space has a paved aisle that leads to a pale wood arbor. Planted trees give this area a bit of natural seclusion from the rest of the world. This space is lovely as is but becomes jaw-dropping when dressed up with light linens and bold florals.
The restored greenhouse is available for receptions. This area will give your party the feeling of the outdoors while keeping the luxuries of an indoor setting. The most common reception area is the Garden Shed. This space, while humbly named, is big on style.
Light barn wood covers the walls while bistro lights dangle from the ceiling. The wooden tables and matching chairs are reminiscent of family antiques and give your reception a cozy feel. They look spectacular with full linens or table runners, candlesticks, and bouquets. No matter how you decide to dress up this space, you can count on it looking lovely and romantic.
The bricked patio in front of the Garden Shed is the preferred space for a cocktail hour. This area features standing tables for guests to mingle around after the reception and comes alive with vining plants and sparkling lights.
The Mushroom House on the property is reserved as a private suite that you can use before the wedding. You can decorate this simple space how you want for those crucial get-ready photos.
With Terrain at Styers, you can invite up to 110 guests, making it perfect for your medium-sized wedding.
While the property is aimed to feel rustic, it lacks no refinement. Lush trees and elegant signage mark the entrance. Inside, the space is ready for a party. The diverse greenery and wood throughout the property gives cozy wedding vibes while still ensuring your wedding is anything but simple.
Outside on the patio, a fire pit and natural logs are available for use. You can warm up your fall wedding with a bonfire or create an after-party your guests will never forget. The inside of the Garden Shed features a large dance floor and controlled temperature. The entire area is relaxed yet elevated, making it perfect for your celebration.
Terrain at Styers possesses a multitude of dreamy photo locations. If you choose not to use the greenhouse for your wedding, you can have portraits here. The natural light of this structure falls on the rows and rows of green plants, making it the optimal surrounding for romantic pictures.
The Mushroom House feels like it came from a storybook. The shingled cottage has vines covering the side and roof of the house and plants all along the front. Here, your pictures will look positively magical.
You can also use the outdoor nursery for photos. The flourishing flowers brighten up the area throughout the spring and summer, giving you a backdrop unlike any other. From wooden and rustic to elegant and serene, this venue has the perfect backdrops to capture the mood of your wedding.
Terrain at Styers knows how to throw a wedding your guests will always remember. The property features on-site catering that uses quality ingredients from local farmers around Glen Mills. You can customize the menu, choosing for the meals to be either plated or served family-style, and pick something suitable for your event. Whatever you choose, you can count on excellent service from the Terrain staff.
Plant experts run the property and are ready to create breathtaking bouquets and arrangements for your event. You can speak with their designers and create arrangements that perfectly match your wedding style.
The space is BYOB, allowing you to pick and choose your beverages; You can even support a few local breweries and mobile bars and set them up wherever you like.
While Terrain does not have a cake service, it does serve desserts and has complimentary s’mores that you can make around the fire pit.
You will love the Terrain at Styers wedding venue if you’re looking for a unique wedding event space with a cozy, rustic feel. This magical space has everything you need to throw the wedding of your dreams.
