About The Union League Philadelphia Wedding Venue

The Union League has one of the most compelling histories regarding Philadelphia landmarks. The club started in 1862 in support of the Union and President Abraham Lincoln. As the country struggled to find hope in the ruthless war, the League was there to start philosophical conversations regarding their devotion to the Union. Since then, it has gained the motto, love of country leads. The Union has hosted presidents, entertainers, and international heads of state. The club today has over 4,000 members, all devoted to paving the way for a better future for our nation.

While the history is fascinating, the building is a tribute to Philadelphia. The architecture apparent throughout the entire building is some of the best in the city. It’s one of the many things that will set your Union League wedding apart.

Details of the Grounds

The Union League has fourteen remarkable indoor spaces for your wedding day. The most commonly used space is Lincoln Hall. This elegant ballroom features grand arched windows, an ornately carved ceiling, and a glorious chandelier to light up your ceremony. You can choose to drape to give your wedding added cohesion. The Meade Room is another favorite spot. This room is a little more intimate. The wood on the walls gives a warm vibe, while the chandelier keeps the space feeling refined. The Grant Room, just across the hallway, is the same size and decorated similarly. For those planning a smaller wedding, you can talk with the staff of the Union League and find a room that works best for your event.

The Lincoln Hall, the Meade Room, and the Grant room are stately reception spaces. The venue provides votive candles and white, cream, or gold table linens. You can arrange the tables, so you’ll have a large dance floor to celebrate late into the night.

With so many smaller rooms, you’ll have plenty of options for setting up a premium cocktail hour. Upstairs weddings can choose from spaces such as the Library Lounge, while downstairs weddings can rent out the Meade or the Grant Room. The venue will work with you to find the best space to serve their famous cocktails.

More Details

The suites at the Union League are for the Bridal suites or groom’s rooms. These elevated rooms are both spacious and comfortable, allowing your party to relax before the ceremony. Sip on some premium champagne, snap a few pictures and put on the finishing touches before your wedding begins.

Couples wanting a larger wedding will love the 380-guest capacity of Lincoln Hall. Downstairs, the Meade Room and the Grant Room will hold about 200 guests.

This historic house has become known for its refined aesthetic. Tall ceilings are prevalent in every room, while drapery masterfully filters the sun from the windows. The dark paneling in the downstairs rooms is perfect for couples that love the moody aesthetic, while the sophisticated details of Lincoln Hall make it an open and bright space. The house carries its history in every room, including presidential portraits and other reminders of our nation’s past. The Union League Philadelphia wedding venue is for you if you enjoy history or elevated spaces.

Photography Opportunities

First, you’ve got to get your picture on the exterior steps. The double staircase leads to a balcony at the entrance of the building, and the curved structures are pretty iconic as far as Philly weddings go. The venue is on Philadelphia’s Avenue of the Arts, giving you several photo opportunities. The Kimmel Center, just down the street, has a glass atrium destined to jazz up any pictures. And, of course, there’s City Hall at the end of the road, ready to give you the most stunning downtown Philadelphia backdrop. The brick median in the middle of the road makes it ideal for sneaking a kiss and getting a breathtaking picture.

On the inside, the various rooms are great for photos. One of the best spots for a first look, or any photo really, is the library on the first floor. This area feels secluded and unique, making this memorable moment one that you can keep between just the two of you.

Wedding Details

The Union League wants to ensure that you have everything you need for the wedding of your dreams. Their on-site caterers are geniuses when it comes to preparing delectable food. You’ll have plenty of options that will allow you to build a menu that best suits your wedding. They even have late-night stations and desserts if all that dancing makes you work up an appetite!

The Inn at the League gives you a complimentary stay for your wedding night. Once it’s time for the party to end, you can head upstairs for a comfortable yet elegant place to crash. Your guests can also pay for a room, so they don’t need to worry about driving too far afterward. In the morning, every guest who stays has breakfast at the Founder’s Dining Room.

If you want to host a more formal post-wedding brunch, the club has options to add this service.

The venue also offers a complimentary coat check and one-night parking in the Midtown Garage.
